BSSP Day Eight: Thorpe Park

Today was a bit of a leisurely day. The only excursion we had today was to amusement park in Surrey called Thorpe Park. The park is situated on an island in a small lake and is very popular (which meant a lot of crowds for us). The best thing that I could compare it to would be a Six Flags park in the United States. It wasn't as clean or well laid out as Carowinds back at home but the rides looked fun (I say that because I only got to ride four). The first thing we did was ride a wing coaster called "The Swarm" which was fun (except for the wait). Most of the rides at the park are loosely themed which I assume is a tool to entice people to ride. We went to an indoor roller coaster themed to The Walking Dead after. When our group got off the ride, we entered a scare maze with live actors dressed as zombies. It was kind of funny to hear everyone screaming as I led the way through the dark ad narrow hallways. We rode a swinging flat ride after that and then tried to ride another ride after but it closed down while we were in line because someone threw up. After some wandering, we found our way into an Angry Birds themed section of the park where we went to a 4D show (I'm not really sure what to call it, however, because the 3D effect wasn't working). It was alright and everyone in our group clapped once the show ended (although someone seated in front of us said that we were "definitely Americans"). Some people got some food after that and then we waited in line for a water ride. Unfortunately, once we got near the front, the ride temporarily shut down and we had to end our trip to Thorpe Park there. When we got back to the school, the catering staff set up dinner in the courtyard of the boarding house and we had a "barbeque" which we all enjoyed. We had a lot of free time afterwards where I was able to write the previous blog post. This Sunday was probably my least favorite day of the trip if I'm going to be honest. Most of it was spent waiting in lines in the heat and riding mediocre rides. I'm sure that if I ever went to Thorpe Park again my experience would be better but today just wasn't that enjoyable for me.
