Last Semester of High School

I have to admit that I did not live up to my promise of posting blogs more frequently. Nonetheless, I will continue to try to write more because I've forgotten how good it feels to reflect on the past and looking towards the future in a format that gives me the ability to share this with everybody.

High school seemed to go by so quickly, my senior year especially. In all honesty though, I'm glad it did because I had been tired of it for a while and graduation was my sense of closure. Reflecting on my tenure as a high school student, I would say it was mostly successful. I have had a lot of highs such as getting the opportunity to travel to England on a scholarship, running varsity in cross country and track, getting a 1440 on the SAT (which led me to receiving the Palmetto Fellows scholarship), and cultivating new friendships. On the other hand, I wish that I tried harder in some of my classes and maintained a better work ethic throughout high school. I look back at a few semesters in the middle of my high school career and wonder why the heck I had no motivation (fortunately I got back on the right track in 2022 and haven't looked back since). Ending high school never really hit me until I was actually seated among my peers at our graduation. I had been playing down my high school graduation like it wasn't some big accomplishment and I wanted it to be over quickly but once I was there, I couldn't process that it was happening, that this chapter of my life was over, that I was about to be a college student, that I would be 19 in just a few months' time. Well, it's been a month since then and it feels good to say that I 'used to go to Nation Ford High School'.

This last semester of high school was pretty good. I only had to take three classes which were AP Macroeconomics, AP Environmental Science, and computer integrated manufacturing. I did well in each class and my class rank kept improving (I graduated with honors :D). I ran track and got a nice PR of 10:07 for the 3200m which placed me pretty high on my school's all-time list. I did get injured at the beginning of April which prematurely ended my track season. I've come back stronger, however, and I'm getting ready to ramp up my mileage in August for half-marathon training.

I did a bit of traveling during this past semester (but not as much as I'm doing this summer :D). I went down to Charleston for admitted students day at College of Charleston which was fun and I went to Nashville and Mammoth Cave National Park for spring break. Nashville was an interesting city, it felt like a mix of Houston, Charlotte, and Austin with its own country culture. Like usual, I made several trips to Uptown Charlotte for a Hornets game, an art festival, pictures with my grandma, and a Knights game. Uptown Charlotte and the surrounding neighborhood's are pretty much the only saving grace of Charlotte, I love it.

Well, I'm on to the next chapter of my life: attending College of Charleston! I'm excited, a little nervous, but most of all ready to make the most of my time there because it will be over before I know it.
